Trading in Public Places
Where can I trade?
You will need to nominate a specific location you wish to trade from. This location needs to be at least 300m from another trader.
For more information please read the Trading in Public Places Bylaws 2019.
If you wish to trade on a State Highway, you must apply through New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).
We are not currently accepting applications for Wairoa Road River Reserve, the Park and Ride carpark on Omokoroa Road or ANZAC Bay.
How do I apply?
You will need to complete a Trading in Public Places application form and submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org. We recommend using Google Maps with the satellite layer turned on to mark on a map where you wish to trade.
Your application will then be reviewed by our Compliance Officers. If they have any queries in regards to your application they will be in touch with you.
If your application is approved, we will issue you an invoice for the cost of the Licence. This will need to be paid before your Licence is issued.
How much does a Licence cost?
What else do I need?
You must be registered with a Food Control Plan or a National Programme with your local council or Ministry of Primary Industries if you are selling food or drinks.
Please refer to our Food Registration page for more information.
