Wairoa River Reserve Toilet Closure

Western Bay of Plenty District Council advises that the toilet facility at Wairoa River Reserve is currently closed and inaccessible due to a failure in the onsite effluent disposal field.

Details:

• 🚫 The toilet block is not functioning and will remain closed until a full renewal can be completed.
• 🧱 The effluent disposal field has failed and cannot be repaired without major works.
• 🕓 A full renewal of the toilet facility is planned within this financial year (by July 2026).
• 🚻 Two portable toilets (Porta Loos) have been installed at the site as a temporary alternative for public use.
• ⚠️ The grass area affected by the failure has been taped off to allow natural drainage of standing water.
  Please stay clear of this area as it may pose a health hazard.
