Vegetation Management - Agrichemical Spraying
Public Notices - General
Council manages vegetation on Council owned and administrated land using a number of vegetation management tools. In some instances, this includes agrichemicals. Council is committed to using the most appropriate vegetation management methods for maintaining reserves and other Council-managed areas. Non-chemical weed control options are used wherever practical; however, there are situations where herbicides, including glyphosate, are necessary to control invasive weed species in public spaces.
All agrichemical applications are undertaken in accordance with New Zealand Standard NZS 8409:2021 - Code of Practice for the Management of Agrichemicals. Management of Agrichemicals and relevant regional regulations, and all scheduled agrichemical spraying applications are publicly notified across the Western Bay of Plenty District..
Please look out for specific spray details on the temporary signage erected during spraying when visiting your local reserves.
