Final surfacing work set for SH2 / Ōmokoroa Rd roundabout
Surfacing work at the State Highway 2 / Ōmokoroa Road roundabout is scheduled to begin this Sunday night, completing the remaining work at the intersection.
Work will take place overnight from 6pm to 6am on Sunday 1 November and Monday 2 November, with line marking planned for Wednesday 4 November (weather permitting).
Reduced speed limits and stop/go traffic management will be in place on all approaches to the roundabout during this work. Drivers should expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys.
The full State Highway 2 / Ōmokoroa Road intersection project was completed in April this year, but the final asphalt layer was deferred until spring to allow for more suitable conditions to apply the specialised skid-resistant surface.
All temporary speed restrictions and traffic management will be removed following the work being completed next week. The permanent speed limit will be 60km/hr on the Ōmokoroa Road approach to the roundabout and 100km/hr on the State Highway 2 approaches.
