Digital classes to smarten up your smartphone skills
Smartphones are designed to make life easier, but they can also come with their fair share of frustrations.
From finding a missing photo to navigating apps, staying safe online and getting to grips with AI, there’s plenty to learn.
A new five-week series of Smartphone Skills Classes at Te Puke Library aims to help people build confidence with their smartphones and make the most of the features they use every day.
The Smartphone Skills Classes, presented by Kimi Katene from Tu Mai Digital, will run from 10am to 12pm each week, starting on Tuesday 13 October, and will cover the following topics:
- 13 October – Smartphone Basics
- 20 October – Photos, Apps and Communication
- 27 October – Everyday Smartphone Skills
- 3 November – Online Safety and Security
- 10 November – AI, Safety Features and Phone Maintenance
Amanda-Jane McFadden, Western Bay of Plenty District Council Team Lead Library and Service Centre, says the classes are designed to help people feel more confident using technology in their daily lives.
“We are delighted to once again partner with Tu Mai Digital to bring these popular digital classes to our community. Whether you’re just getting started with a smartphone or want to make better use of the features you already have, these sessions provide practical, hands-on support in a welcoming environment,” she says.
“Places are limited and classes fill quickly, so we encourage everyone to secure their spot as soon as possible.”
Participants will need to bring a smartphone along to the classes, and can book either in person at Te Puke Library and Service Centre, call 0800 926 732, or through eventbrite.co.nz.
