PAYT rubbish tags and greenwaste price changes
From 1 July, there will be an increase to the cost of pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) rubbish tags and loose greenwaste drop-offs.
PAYT (pay-as-you-throw) rubbish tags
The RRP (recommended retail price) of a PAYT rubbish tag will increase from $4.80 to $5.20.
Like many services, waste collection costs have increased over time, with higher fuel and transport costs being a key factor. The increase helps cover these rising costs and supports the continued delivery of the service.
Please note, while $5.20 is the RRP, retailers can set their own prices. Residents looking for the lowest-priced PAYT tags can purchase them from Council libraries and service centres, where they are sold at the RRP.
Loose greenwaste drop-offs
The charge for loose greenwaste dropped off at our recycling and greenwaste centres will increase from $30 to $45 per cubic metre.
The change brings the cost of loose greenwaste into line with existing bagged greenwaste charges, so people are paying a similar amount for a similar volume of greenwaste, regardless of how it arrives at the transfer station.
This creates a fairer and more consistent approach to greenwaste pricing while helping cover the costs of managing and processing greenwaste.
The new charges take effect from 1 July.
