Upcoming Road Closure – Bell Road Level Crossing
We’re getting stuck into fixing the rough road surface at the Bell Road rail crossing, which we know has been the source of frustration for many in the community, especially with recent rain making the potholes and damage worse.
To carry out this important upgrade safely and efficiently, Bell Road will be closed for two days at the rail crossing and through to Parton Road. Detours will be in place via Parton Road and the eastern end of Bell Road to ensure continued resident access to properties and other routes.
What’s happening?
Rail crossing resealing works
- Where: Bell Road level crossing and Bell Road (from the crossing to Parton Road)
- When: From 6am Wednesday 23 July to 6am Friday 25 July 2025
- Access: Full road closure in place, with resident access maintained. Please follow detour signage.
Why we’re doing this work
The road surface in this area has significantly deteriorated, and we’ve heard your concerns loud and clear. We’re upgrading the crossing with a new asphalt surface, which is more durable, resistant to rain and wear, and delivers a smoother, longer-lasting result.
This work will restore a safer, more even road surface through this busy intersection and reduce the risk of further damage, especially as wet weather continues.
What you need to know
- Detour routes will be clearly signposted
- Please allow extra travel time during the closure
- Residents will still be able to access and exit their properties throughout the works
- There will be no access over the railway line to and from Bell Road to the Te Puke Highway/Pacific Coast Highway during this time
- Emergency and essential access will be maintained
We understand this closure may cause some inconvenience, and we really appreciate your patience as we get this sorted for the long-term benefit of the community.
