The Te Puke swimming pool will re-open on Thursday.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council closed the pool in December due to a major pump failure.
The old pump propeller had completely disintegrated. When the pump was removed, closer inspection identified a number of pipes in the system that needed to be replaced. The new pump is more efficient so should result in a small reduction in operating costs.
The pump circulated the pool's water through the treatment and filtration system. Without the pump working the pool water quality was unsafe for use.
Council's Manager of Reserves and Facilities, Peter Watson, says installing a new pump and getting everything back to working order has been a great effort from all the contractors involved.
"We thank everyone for their work and thanks to the community for bearing with us."
