The Tauranga Eastern Link is a 21km four lane highway and is made up of two sections. The first 6km section is an expressway which runs from Te Maunga (near Baypark Stadium) to Domain Road in Papamoa and is an upgrade of the existing State Highway 2.
The tolled section is 15km from the Domain Road interchange to the Paengaroa roundabout, at the State Highway 2 / State Highway 33 intersection.
The Bay of Plenty's largest roading project is recognised by the Government as a road of national significance and is a key strategic transport corridor for the region.
Costing $455 million dollars, the new 21-kilometre route reduces travel times between Tauranga and Paengaroa, is safer and easier to drive and supports regional growth.
