Katikati Cemetery Works Update: 23 March 2018

Due to the current number of available burial plots within the Katikati cemetery, Council has engaged Fotheringhame Contractors to re-contour the front (road side) grass hill of the Katikati Cemetery. This will increase capacity and provide easy access for new concrete beams.

We expect works to start during the last week of March 2018.

Until works are complete, Council will not reserve and sell plots for long term future use. Immediate sales due to a recent passing with burial certificate will continue.

Expected duration of works is approximately one month (weather permitting).

Our Cemeteries

Council manages five cemeteries at Maketu, Te Puke, Oropi and Katikati.

The Katikati and Te Puke cemetery have a Returned Services section as well as a children's section (13 years and under).

All cemeteries are interdenominational.

Cemetery records are kept at Council service centres in Te Puke, Barkes Corner (in Greerton, Tauranga) and Katikati.

You can make enquiries for genealogical purposes at our service centres, or by emailing customerservice@westernbay.govt.nz

Keep an eye out for our online cemetery records search function which is coming soon, starting with the Te Puke Cemetery. We will be adding our other cemeteries - Old Te Puke, Oropi, Katikati and Maketu to the system as time permits.
