Foster a dog

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to foster a dog? Why not give it a try!

Here at the Western Bay of Plenty District Council, we are proud to be re homing as many dogs as possible that come through our pounds.  To do this, we require the help of the community to temporarily take care of a dog while we find their forever home!

We are very careful about placing the dogs into the best environment for their future, and the best way to do that is to get to know them first.  This is where fostering is the best option.  We have a wide variety of dogs coming though of various breeds and ages and are also careful to get the best fit we can for dogs going into foster homes.

If you are interested in fostering a dog, have a safe and secure property and some spare time on your hands to care for a dog, we would love to hear from you!

We provide full support and make sure all our dogs are vaccinated, micro chipped, registered and have flea and worming treatments before they go into foster care.

It really is a very rewarding experience to be part of.

Join the fun and become a foster parent today!
