Roads we're working on from this week's weather event
Mōrena Western Bay,
It was a busy night for our District - slips and surface flooding were widespread.
As you'd expect, we have a couple of road incidents we need to sort out. Our crews will do their best to attend to these as fast as they can so please be patient:
- Kumikumi Road – the road has washed out. Working on it
- Tebutt Road – slight washout. Cleared
- Waitao Road – slip covering both lanes. Cleared
- Poripori Road – Poripori Road is currently under Stop/Go today, and possible tomorrow. A couple more slips came down today, so this has delayed the road being fully open, but motorists can access it (delays possible).
- Mountier Road – slips over the road. Working on it
- Upper Ohauiti Road – slip covering one lane. Cleared
- Pongakawa Bush Road – from end of seal to Pugh Road – will be closed until at least Friday due to bad scouring from the recent severe weather.
- Maniatutu Road (on the Rotorua District side) has a large slip and there is now a full road closure (until tomorrow). The slip is between Rotoehu Road and Pugh Road (WBOPDC Local Road). Therefore Maniatutu Road will not be available as a detour route until the slip is cleared. We hope to have everything cleared Friday.
- Manoeka Road (near #55 - 80) - flooding - Working on it
Please be careful driving. There might still be surface flooding in some areas. If you need to report anything, please email us at info@westernbay.govt.nz or report it via Antenno.
Lastly, we just wanna say a massive thank you to all our Community Response teams and local marae for being prepared and ready to assist the community if needed. Thank you.
