Waihī Beach Community Board By-Election 2023

Waihī Beach residents will vote to fill the vacant Community Board seat following the resignation of Alan Kurtovich.

Alan is stepping down from the role, effective immediately, triggering a by-election to select a new Community Board member.

Alan received 844 votes in the October 2022 local body elections, alongside Ross Goudie (809), Dani Simpson (740) and Heather Marie Guptill (527), and was appointed Deputy Chairperson.

How it will work

Don Ryan and Wayne Stevenson will vie for the community’s vote following the resignation of Alan Kurtovich.

Whoever is elected will join current Community Board members, Dani Simpson, Heather Marie Guptill and Ross Goudie.

Voting will be done via postal ballot, with voting papers being sent to Waihī Beach residents on Friday 27 October 2023. To vote, residents in the Waihī Beach Community Board area will need to complete their postal ballots and send them back in using the return envelope.

Voting closes at noon on Saturday 18 November 2023, so all votes need to be received before this.

Votes will be counted soon after voting closes and the winner will be declared on Saturday 18 November 2023. They will then be sworn into the role at the next Council meeting.
