Council has put together the following initiatives to help with reducing waste.
HazMobile
The HazMobile is a mobile collection service for household hazardous waste staffed by people trained in handling hazardous materials. This annual event provides residents with an opportunity to dispose of this waste in a safe and responsible manner.

Waste minimisation education
Council provides waste minimisation education programmes to schools and community groups within the District. This covers reducing, recyling, composting, resource sustainability and water conservation.

Cleaner production
Council operates a cleaner production programme to demonstrate to businesses that savings and improved profits are possible through waste reduction, energy efficiency and pollution prevention. This is a free service to businesses inthe Western Bay of Plenty.
Second-hand Sunday
This is an opportunity for householders to give away items that they no longer want and/or collect items they may be able to use from other people in the area.

Agrecovery programme
Agrecovery is a collection of triple-rinsed agrichemical plastic containers (60ltr and under) designed for the horticultural and forestry sector.
The Agrecovery collection is located at 336 Omokoroa Road and is open Wednesday and Saturday, 2.00pm-4.00pm.
