Council owns and operates 70 rental units (19 in Waihi Beach, 17 in Katikati and 34 in Te Puke) that cater for elderly persons on limited incomes.
Each single storey unit has an average floor area is 36sqm and is equipped with an oven, automatic washing machine, and floor coverings.
Effective as of 1 July 2009, fortnightly rental for each unit will be $202.00 for a single tenant and $288.00 for a couple. To be eligible an applicant must be 65 years of age or older, or at an age at which they qualify for a Government superannuation benefit.
To apply for a unit an applicant must fill out an application form which is available from any Council office.
