Automatic payments
You decide how much to pay towards your rates and how often you make payments. If you choose to make automatic payments please consider the following:
- a penalty will be applied to your rates account if you do not pay enough to clear the outstanding balance before the penalty date.
- when calculating how much you will pay each time, make sure the total amount of the first instalment is paid by 28 October 2011, the last date to pay the first instalment before incurring a penalty. The total of the second instalment must be paid by 23 March 2012 to avoid incurring a penalty.
- a penalty of 10% will be applied to any amounts outstanding after the last date to pay each instalment.
- if you choose to make monthly automatic payments, please consider making the payments on the 20th of each month, or earlier, because this gives us time to process the payments in good time, especially during the months when penalties are applied.
- you may need to increase the amount you pay each rating year.
