Western Bay of Plenty Sub-Regional Events Strategy 2009-2014

The Western Bay of Plenty Sub-Regional Events Strategy has been developed jointly by Tauranga City Council and Western Bay of Plenty District Council. It was adopted by the Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s Policy and Planning Committee on 7 May 2009 and by Tauranga City Council’s Strategy and Policy Committee on 7 April 2009.

The Events Strategy is about enabling events for communities in the Western Bay of Plenty sub-region and was developed jointly because events are run by and attract people from the whole sub-region, as well as out of town visitors in some instances.  The strategy sets out our vision and outlines the actions by various organisations to achieve the vision.  It has been developed as a result of working with a wide range of organisations, groups and events organisers over a 12 month period.

The Events Strategy fits with other key documents adopted by Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Tauranga City Council. The importance of events is reflected in a number of sub-regional strategies such as SmartGrowth, SmartEconomy, SmartTourism and SmartArts.
