Waihi Beach wastewater treatment plant

Western Bay of Plenty District Council wish to renew an existing Resource Consent to discharge treated wastewater to land for the Waihi Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant for a 35 year period.

Consent was granted by Bay of Plenty Regional Council to Western Bay of Plenty District Council on 22 December 1999 and expires on 31 May 2012.  Due to a predicted increase in future population growth within the area, Western Bay of Plenty District Council wish to increase the allowable discharge from the wastewater treatment plant from 6,500m3/day to 8,500m3/day.  This will also provide for the increased population in Waihi Beach during holiday season peak periods.

Two public open days were held on Wednesday 26 October and Saturday 29 October 2011 and were advertised in advance through the Waihi Leader and Waihi Beach Notice Board newsletter.

The application to renew the Resource Consent was lodged with the Bay of Plenty Regional Council in March 2012.

The application is open for submissions.

Any person may make a submission on the application by sending a written submission to Environment Bay of Plenty at PO Box 364, Whakatane, facsimile 0800 368 329, telephone 0800 368 267, no later than 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday 8 May 2012.

The submission must be dated, signed by you and include:
1 Your name, postal address, telephone number and e-mail address (if applicable).
2 Details of the application, including location.
3 Whether you support or oppose the application.
4 Your reasons for the submission.
5 The decision you wish the Regional Council to make.
6 Whether you wish to be heard in support of your submission.
