The Community Plan for Te Puna captures current and future initiatives for the peninsula. Council staff met with community groups and schools and worked with people to look to the future and envisage how they want their community to be, as it grows and develops, and to think about how this could be done over the next 10 years. 
The Community Plan:
- Brings together current plans and future proposals to take Te Puna forward.
- Expresses a vision.
- Includes actions to achieve the vision, along with timeframes identifying when these should occur.
- Has actions that involve Council as well as a community groups, government and non-government organisations.
