Adult Collections

The staff of the Western Bay of Plenty District Libraries work to develop the content and collections of the libraries to satisfy customer research, recreation, cultural and lifelong learning needs.

TheTop Shelf collection is destined to provide fast access to the most popular books of the moment for customers, mostly popular fiction and best selling non-fiction titles.

The Adult Fiction collection provides a source of recreation and inspiration, we aim to have a comprehensive collection of the works of all major English lanaguage fiction writers.

The Adult Non-Fiction collection aims to meet customer needs by providing timely, accurate information in a variety of formats. Titles include; biographies, travel books, information about life in ers and about New Zealand life and culture.

The Maori collections contain material pertaining to Maori which help to promote cultural awareness and play an important role in the libraries' partnership commitment under te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Reference collections provide current information covering all subject fields and as this collection is unable to borrowed,  is always available for customer use.  This collection is aimed at answering reference queries and providing a starting point for further research.

Large Print is provided primarily for customers who are sight impaired and contains popular fiction and non-fiction titles.

Adult Literacy / ESOL is a special collection for adults new to reading and for those with English as a second language.

Magazines, we provide a range of general, popular and special interest magazines.

DVD Recordings are held in the rental collection and include; ballets, operas and musical performance, dramatised documentaries, popular feature films, films with a strong litery or New Zealand content and art house films.

Musical Recordings are also held in the rental collection and cover all areas generally, with a particular emphasis on popular music.

Talking Books provide a wide range of both classical and modern fiction and non-fiction.  The collection is available free of charge to those who have registered with the library as Talking Book Users.
