Joint Regional Land Transport Committee

Role:
To prepare for approval by the regional council, a regional land transport strategy prepared under section 175.

Membership:
The Act requires the Committee to consist of suitable persons appointed by the relevant regional council to represent:

  • The objectives of economic development, safety and personal security, public health, access and mobility, and environmental sustainability
  • Cultural interests
  • The Council
  • Other territorial authorities in the region
  • The Authority
  • Transfund

The Committee has the authority to make submissions on:

  • Transit’s 10 Year Highway Forecast
  • Land Transport New Zealand’s (LTNZ) National Land Transport Programme
  • Policies plans, guidelines and consultation documents issued by Transit and LTNZ and the Ministry of Transport
  • Transport related regional and district planning matters
  • Regional Land Transport issues

THAT the Western Bay of Plenty District Council appointment to this Committee be Councillor Ross Paterson with His Worship the Mayor as alternate representative
