Role:
To prepare for approval by the regional council, a regional land transport strategy prepared under section 175.
Membership:
The Act requires the Committee to consist of suitable persons appointed by the relevant regional council to represent:
- The objectives of economic development, safety and personal security, public health, access and mobility, and environmental sustainability
- Cultural interests
- The Council
- Other territorial authorities in the region
- The Authority
- Transfund
The Committee has the authority to make submissions on:
- Transit’s 10 Year Highway Forecast
- Land Transport New Zealand’s (LTNZ) National Land Transport Programme
- Policies plans, guidelines and consultation documents issued by Transit and LTNZ and the Ministry of Transport
- Transport related regional and district planning matters
- Regional Land Transport issues
